I download opensuse 11.1 alpha2 64 bit and fresh install on my notebook (C2D 2.2GHZ , 2 GB ram) .
first try I use all default without making any change to the option . when start install it give me error and ask me whether I want to retry ,skip, abort . I choose retry and it continue . after few minute another error message popup . I did same by clicking retry but it won’t get through so I abort .
second try , I did change some option to the packages to install . this time it go through smooth .
when it first show me the desktop screen , I notice the Icon on the taskbar all mess up . it fix after reboot .
next setup my wireless . I notice the message on network manager that wireless is disable . I start yast , network , make sure network manage by network manager is check and startup at boot time then finish . II restart . once in , on network manager I create new network . and select my wireless network and I wait a minute for it to connect and done .
I find that even though there few minor bugs , this version is much much better than opensuse 11 . I sure that by the time official released all this bugs will be gone .
I also found that lot problem on kde 4 gone . even so I notice one problem on the desktop folder widgets . this only happen if you set your mouse click to double click . if you do that try click only once on the icon you will notice it like hang in there then try single click on another icon . you will notice 2 icon are selected . also when you try double click on the icon to start the application , you will notice the hang time . my solution is to close the desktop folder widget and just create normal icon on the desktop.
maybe because of 64 bit I choose , I find that kde 4 slow . it’s not unacceptable level but you can feel hang time when do something on the desktop level (like moving the widgets) but no problem application level .
for people that haven’t move to opensuse 11 , wait until until 11.1 version released rotfl!.
