Under the widget configuration (the wrench) did you choose “Desktop Folder” via the “Show the Desktop Folder” radio button, or by selecting the Desktop folder under “Show a Place?”
Also, I think the configuration for the desktop widgets is located in ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc Inside that file I have the following:
I chose the third option: “specify a folder” (and I selected the Desktop folder)
Also, I think the configuration for the desktop widgets is located in ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc Inside that file I have the following:
Next I copied the file plasma-desktop-rc (as a backup) and emptied the original and logged out and in again and restructured the desktop, selecting Layout → Folder (with no particular folder chosen). The Desktop popped into view and all looks good. The newly-populated file only contains about 80-90 lines now. I’ll see how it goes from there.
I haven’t had a problem with the Desktop structuring since I cleaned out the file ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc
But I wonder what will happen with the “zypper dup” that is right now pending, since it contains both a kernel update and a kdebase update, it will be interesting
I’ve had something similar since 4.13 as well. If I use the folder widget and select ‘show desktop’, the home folder appears instead. Then, if I select a folder and then the desktop folder, it shows the desktop like in a file manager and the *.desktop extensions are visible (something that before was hidden). I’m not too happy about that and would like to change it, if possible. ANyone know how? It’s like the desktop folder broken
Please, do not hang yoour prob lem at the end of an already solved thread. Specialy when it is only “similar” as you say.
More people will see your thread when you make a fresh one with a good title (with keywords that attrackt the correct gurus). Many people will not watch an old thread like this anymore for new posts.
