I’m using a Dell E1505 laptop with Opensuse 11.1. I installed KDE 4.1, but since there were several problems with controlling or using peripherals, etc., I downgraded it to KDE 3.5.
I have been able to resolve the use of my volume control buttons by using Kmix and assigning the volume buttons as hotkeys.
However, I cannot assign the mute button either at the default level or at the sound card level (HDA Intel sound card). I can assign and reassign the mute/unmute button, but it won’t remain in effect after I close the Kmix window.
Since this function works with Dell on Ubuntu either under KDE or Gnome, I suspect this is an Opensuse bug.
Does anyone have information on this?
