Multitouchpad not recognised on xps13 ultrabook

I have a multitouchpad on my xps13 ultrabook (dell). It is working fine, but the multitouch is not recognised. Synaptics is installed but it says “no touchpad found”, each time I reboot since i installed gsynaptik.

Any ideas?

I see where you need to be using kernel 3.9 or later for it to work. I provide help with kernel updates you can find at the following link. Kernel 3.10.3 is the latest I would try but you can still get 3.9.11 as well:

Aha, you think a kernel update would help? I do prefer to have a stable kernel, so I think I prefer no multitouch until yast updates it.

You will need to wait until openSUSE 13.1 comes out then as it is unlikely the fix will be ported back to 3.7.10 which has already been declared End Of Life by Kernel.org. Only security fixes provided by openSUSE are headed your way. Updating the kernel is no big deal, but it is very OK to stick with what you have now and good luck to you.

Ok, well if it is no big deal perhaps I will give it a try tomorrow. Thanks for your help anyway and I will report back if it works!
