Multiple entries per device under /media (extra underscores)

Hi all,

Using openSUSE 11.1 32-bit on an Acer Aspire 5020 laptop with GNOME.

I’m just wondering why a new entry gets created under /media seemingly every time I reconnect a device, including a CD? My /media directory looks like this after about 3 days after installing:

wayne@linux-833c:~> l /media

The “SU…” entry is the SUSE DVD and WAYNE250 is my external USB HDD which stores my music / personal documents.

The main problem I have with this is that I can’t create shortcuts based on the device now because the path is different every time as a result.

FWIW in case it’s related, I have also had to modify one of the PolicyKit storage HAL entries to allow my standard user account to dynamically mount the device.

Thanks in advance,
Regards,
