Pop a music cd in KDE 4.1, cd players crash instantly, banshee cannot find the cd, kaffien vanishes. The same cd into the G5 mac, instant music.Playing a music cd isn’t rocket science, Red Hat 7 played 'em, so what’s the problem? forget something? Oh well, linux for e-mail only. >:(

Go to {Green Lizard Icon) Menu, -System, -Configuration, -Yast, [enter
password], then the yellow Hard-hat icon, - [Security and Users}-lastly
to User and Group Adminstration icon. Select the user [if not already
selected] then Edit and select “Details” tab you wish to give CD
permission to. Make sure “disk” and “cdrom” are checked. Click OK,etc.
[close open windows]. Reboot. That worked for me.
