BEFORE YOU READ THIS ALL: I’ve put the history of the machine below under History. If you feel you do not need this information to guide me in the right direction please feel free to skip to the text in bold for my issue.
HISTORY:
I’m still new to openSUSE 13.2, but I like the YaST as well as this OS’s stability compared to Ubuntu or Mint (Distro’s I’ve tried and still like). I’ll try to provide the needed information possible but if I’m missing a piece of information you need please just ask and I’ll send it your way. When I installed openSUSE 13.2 right out the box the HDMI sound didn’t work. I don’t remember anything how I got it working finally except that:
Prior to all these steps I had the NVidia proprietary drivers installed. My card is a GTX670 GS03 driver version 340.x.xx.x(do not know the exact numbers but this is what YaST suggested. I installed it, and it seems to work fine.)
1.) I currently do not have it set up in “Sound” settings.
2.) I installed Pulse audio.
3.)Then I uninstalled Pulse audio.
4.) I uninstalled Kmix (which for whatever reason out of the box I couldn’t get this program to open all the time.)
5.) Installed Pulse audio again.
6.) Installed Kmix. ( I notice this Application looks a bit different after this install for some reason)
7.) Bam Somehow HDMI sound is working. Note: All my sound devces in “Sound” settings are NOT setup.
Whenever I use my Logitech’s keyboard multimedia buttons it only affects my corsair wireless headset not my HDMI sound. Would anyone be able to guide me have these buttons apply to both pieces of hardware? Thank you!
