Multilingual Problem :)

Hi, here my problem:
additionally I am fluent in german, polish, french, spanish and …where is the italian forum?
I don’t know why, I decided to take a look in the polish forum. Actually I was looking for some information concerning the destiny of the KDE forums, but suddently I understood perhaps :)). Thinking about answering a post I attempted to login, what resulted to be impossible. Then I left, I logged in this forum and “back to Poland” :). This time also, my login disappeared. I don’t know what would happen by a multiple registering. Is the forum only for monoglots ?

As you will see on the main page of these forums, Polish (like Spanish and Romanian) are:

It is logical to me that they thus have their own ways of administering users.

Nobody has requested one nor volunteered to actively manage/moderate
one. There are certain requirements needed for the creation of such
forums.

See the FAQ for information about how we create/manage the non-English
forums. As hcvv also mentioned, some language forums are hosted locally
(and thus use the account you created for access here), others are links
to external forums that use their own authentication. Check out the URL
to see if you’re still on forums.opensuse.org or not.

Hi Jim,
thanks for your kind answer.

  • concerning my fluency in italian I made in my young time a doctor title in the university of Rome, so I speak italian on the highest level. Suse is my OS since version 9.3, I feel very grateful for that what I got during so many years and if could help in some way I will do that. But don’t forget that my Linux knowledge is quite modest, like you can see from my posts.
  • However, I believe that open here a new italian forum would mean just reinventing the wheel: I know about the existence of a “SuseItalia” forum, or something similar. They work perhaps on a more elementary basis but in my humble opinion they do very well. We could offer them an integration as “external”, in case of mutual interest and acceptance. In my impression they are open since many years.

Thanks, Ben - with the existence of an Italian external forum, that’s
something we could link to if the operators of that forum are
interested. That’s one of the options we have and use with a number of
the non-English forums you see in the list.

It is often better in a situation like that to leverage the existing
community rather than to try to replace (or compete, or whatever) with it.

thanks for your exhausting explanation! However, I can’t compete with your logic and certainly there are other forum visitors with the same limit. Making things clear for everybody, and posting the answer for dummies:

  • Forums defined as external are independent: basically they are here just recognized and of course require a separate registration.
