Multi-media advice please (Bobby361)

Looking for codic pack or it called plugins for brasero 2.30.1

Have you installed the multi-media pack
Multimedia in One Click

Yes I have, thank you

The home page for brasero is here: Brasero

I note they state that brasero "can use all audio files handled by Gstreamer local installation (ogg, flac, mp3, …)" and that suggests to me that you should ensure your gstreamer packages are all versions packaged by packman packagers, as opposed to being packaged by SuSE-GmbH.

Thanks for your help, working except for converting videos

From what to what?
Explain yourself

I noticed some corruped files reloaded os and solved problems
Thanks for your help, dirrect and to the point

still having problems with brasero,
1 audio project- works
2 data project- works
3 video project- fail
4 disk copy- fail (all required applications and libraries are not installed)
5 burn image- fail
I saved the fail file but before I post wanted some input
thanks Bobby361

Even where I have a Gnome installation, I still use the kde application k3b

Install k3b and k3b-codecs from Packman and use that.

Reference specific brasero support, you can also get it by joining the brasero mailing list: brasero-list Info Page or by joining braserp on-line support/chat at their IRC channel: #brasero at irc.gimp.org

Thanks k3b works but wont rip dvds
(k3b uses transcode to rip video dvd- please make sure it is installed

oldcpu thanks for the input, I’m so green w/linux that I need simple easy to install programs. Brasero sint the one for now.

If you want to do stuff with dvd’s
I copy them with k9copy, actually you might be able to use that to get a .avi out too
Or try Handbrake

Installed K9Copy, works great. Burnt 1 movie then got error message(temp file full). Found thread to help and solved problem.
How can I safely remove brasero.

Since changing tmp file, had file folder open and open to infinity and beyond. Had to restart, couldn’t save log. I’ll try resetting the tmp files, then burn again.

You need a fair bit of free space in /
to do this kind of work, because it stores data in /tmp as well as writing whatever you are creating to your chosen output location.

If you did this:
Clear Temp Files at Boot
it’s a permanent fix, but only clears files at reboot

if you installed it with YaST or zypper, then safely remove it the
same way…

if you installed some other way, say how?

brasero was part of the iso download. The Tried to copy movie after reboot, resting tmp files but still failed. Also tied to post log w/copy and paste but didn’t post. 2 more ?- 1. How do I add more space to the tmp file. 2. Is there a way to change the Thread heading, used my user name(so very GREEN).

  • ask mod to repair thread subject (PM works, pick a mod who is not
old and grumpy–i don’t know how hard it is to do…)

  • use YaST to uninstal brasero

  • no way to add space to the “tmp file” because there is no such
thing…instead there is a /tmp directory and it will expand as needed
until the partition it is in is full, then it can’t get any bigger…
[by the way, all *nix like systems i know of REALLY hate to run out of
    space…do NOT do it!]

if you did a default install then /tmp is in the same partition as
your root (also known as / ) which can be expanded by using a
partitioner…if there is spare room on the drive where that
partition resides…

or, you could mount /tmp in another partition on the same or some
other drive on your system…

GREEN is good, as long as you recognize you ARE making progress…and,
there is a whole bunch of stuff to chew on…go slow, have
patience…the words are different, the methods/procedures and
techniques are different…and, if you stick with it the results will
be amazing!!

Who ever changed my heading thank you.
DenverD, thank you for advice on this matter. I will check forum for info on that and post later.

No problem
