So I have an MSI Wins u100. I put openSUSE 11.3 GNOME on it because it is useful for my Computer Science classes. For the most part, I am enjoying the experience. However, there has been one fairly large issue. The computer will occasionally completely freeze. The screen will look the same but I will not be able to do anything – the mouse and keyboard all do not work and the screen does not change.
I am not sure what is causing this, but I have a feeling it may be related to my wifi.
The freezing has happened several time when trying to install or update packages, through the command line or through the Software Manager. Also, two times today, I tried to turn on my computer and connect to a network. While the wifi was connecting, I tried to open up a terminal to open a document in VIM. Both times the computer froze while the wifi was still trying to connect.
If anybody knows what is going on or has a suggestion for how I might fix it, your help would be appreciated. Having my computer freeze while it is installing packages doesn’t sound good to me, and I have lots a good bit of notes from class when the computer froze before I could save them.
And if you need more info/details, ask and I will try to provide them.
Thanks!
