Mplayer (SMPlayer) & Dolphin

Having some problems with extremely high cpu usage from smplayer which seems to be caused by dolphin.

If I enter a directory in Dolphin that has only one video file and open that - system monitor shows two instances of mplayer (which I think is normal).

If I enter a directory in Dolphin that has several video files and launch one file only in smplayer - system monitor shows multiple instances of mplayer and cpu usage going through the roof for a short period of time (approx 10 - 20 seconds)

This seems to be caused by Dolphin creating previews for “Places”
If “places” is turned off in Dolphin problem is corrected.

Anybody have any idea on how to fix this and keep places turned on?
