MPLAYER - no video

I have had to rebuild a system. I have installed enable play proprietary formats using the one click. Disabled video lan repository, and updated packman. My system is using kde4 4.1.2 rel52.2

When i play a movie file either .mov or .mpg I get the sound but just a blue box where the video is here is a listing of whats installed from videolan and packman. Any ideas please. I have look through past posts to no avail.

rpm -qa --qf "%{NAME} → %{VENDOR}
" | grep -i videolan
libdvdcss → VideoLAN Project (VideoLAN - Free and Open Source software and video streaming solutions for every OS!)

rpm -qa --qf "%{NAME} → %{VENDOR}

Install smplayer and vlc, both from packman and try them

Hi, tried your suggestion - exactly the same - blue screen where video should be and sound playing ok.

take a look at the end of this thread:

Video not working after update - openSUSE Forums

I have managed to get it working - not by installing any additional software.

I am using an intel X3100 graphics controller with 945 chipset, and I modified my xorg.conf file with the following

Option “AccelMethod” “exa”
Option “MigrationHeuristic” “greedy”
Option “ExaNoComposite” “false”

In The Section “Device” after “VendorName”

All seems to work.

Thanks to everyone for their time & effort

that’s pretty cool ooglie;

if you are still out there, can we ask you how to got to modify your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file in this way?

Hi,

This is a new problem with mplayer. I am using opensuse-10.3 and MPlayer 1.0rc2. I have downloaded some flash videos with firefox from some site other than utube. The videos played nicely in firefox and also all utube videos do play well in MPlayer. But when I tried to start some of these newly downloaded videos in MPlayer, the errors were:
“LAVF_header: av_open_input_stream() failed”
or “Too many audio packets in the buffer: (4096 in 425984 bytes)”
or “Cannot find codec for audio format 0x50”

Any help will be most appreciated.

Try VLC or Kaffeine
see how they perform
