mplayer crashes

Yesterday updated to the lateset mplayer from packman r34962-1.1

Immediately after install I started to see problems.
There is a distortion in the top of the player and after about three to five seconds mplayer crashes and states “error code 1”

This is the log output from smplayer

Ran out of numbered images, expect crash. Filter before ass is broken.

MPlayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: decode video

 - MPlayer crashed by bad usage of CPU/FPU/RAM.
Recompile MPlayer with --enable-debug and make a 'gdb' backtrace and
   disassembly. Details in DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports_what.html#bugreports_crash.
 - MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen.

It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your
gcc version. If you think it's MPlayer's fault, please read
DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports.html and follow the instructions there. We can't and
won't help unless you provide this information when reporting a possible bug.

particularly like this line

Ran out of numbered images, expect crash. Filter before ass is broken.

is that for real?

Also tested in mplayer standalone and gmplayer and see same distortion and crash.

What I want ot do is roll back to the previous version of mplayer but packman immediately delete any previous versions when they add an update.
Any idea where I can get an earlier rpm of mplayer for opensuse 12.1 64bit?

problem seems to be restricted to h264 videos. Most other formats seems to play without problem.
Currently using mplayer2 (& smplayer2) as a temporary workaround.

I had this today after I update from Packman
Using Totem ATM

a new mplayer was added to the packman factory repo yesterday so perhaps a fix for 12.1 is not too far away.

I hope the fixed release will be soon. It’s been a while and there is still no fixed version so I have can’t use SMPlayer and to use something else temporarily.

I hope someone able to reproduce this creates a new bug report at https://bugs.links2linux.org/ providing a short sample that triggers the crash.

There are options. Download mplayer2 and then in smplayer options simply change the mplayer option to mplayer2.
Also, enabling deinterlacing works for me with mplayer.

I’ve been horrendously busy this past week. If I have a chance I’ll try and enter a bug for it this afternoon.

new mplayer available in packman now - version 1.1

Seems to have resolved reported problems above (at least for me)
