Mplayer codecs not working with other players.

Hello
I downloaded the mplayer essential codecs pack and extracted in directories mentioned.I even compiled mplayer and it can play now almost all the files.
But I am having a problem.The problem is that other multimedia players dont play even a single file.I tried with xine,totem,kaffiene and every bundled player.
Plz help.

After you read through the guide just as DaaX has suggested, you can test some of your multimedia setup with a script file posted here in the forums. Take a look here at message #18 for the most resent version of mmcheck.

Aatish910, we actually do not know what you have installed on your PC. By default, restricted formats do not play after an installation of openSUSE. Further, each media player has certain dependencies, when if missing, can keep it from working.

So, what did you not install that you should have** installed** would be our question? You can’t answer it just like we don’t know what is missing on your PC. The guide provided above needs to be followed to insure you get all the required files. The mmcheck script might help show what is missing. Consider we DO want to help, but you need to follow the suggestions.

because these codecs’s ARE for mplayer ONLY
