I’ve been using Virtuasa in 64-bit WinXP and finding it several cuts above Audacity.
Does anyone know of a good 192-bit MP3 converter available as an rpm download?
An aside, I blundered into the answer to the Amazon MP3 downloader on 64-bit Suse11.3’ but have to say all the Amazon MP3 downloads I’ve made have been singularly poor - but then my downloads have been all classics or jazz.
Hi,
VLC can do audio and video conversions.

lame.
No, that’s actually not a commentary - that’s the name of the encoder
that’s generally thought to be the best. It stands for “Lame Ain’t an
MP3 Encoder”. But it is, and it’s very good.

So chasfgr, you did not indicate what you were trying to convert to what. I have a script here in message #8 to convert m4a files first to wave, using faad and then converted them to mp3 using lame and is an example of what you could do.
Bash: Scan a folder for files by extension.
Thank You,
