Move to new hardware

I’ve moved an OpenSUSE disk image to a new system and it boots fine to console mode. Is there a command I can run to re-detect and set all of my hardware settings (video in particular)?

I’ve seen some references to running hwinfo on an individual object basis.

Assuming you are running 11.2, in most cases xorg (video system) works fine with no static configuration. Simply remove /etc/X11/xorg.conf and everything will be redetected dynamically and should work.

For previous versions (<= 11.1) run (as root, from the console)

sax2 -r

hwinfo is just a program to give hardware information, it doesn’t do any configuration.
