Hello everybody!
I was happy to install new openSuSe 11.2 till problem with mouse come up…
Mouse not working at all, but sometimes suddenly come alive after few reboots.
When some mouse event occur (movement or click) next strings appears in my /var/log/messages file:
I have not any touchscreen, mouse model is A4Tech OP-3D.
This mouse successfully works in openSUSE 10.3 during last 1.5 years.
I’ll be appreciate for help!
What connection does your current mouse use ?
USB ?
If that’s the case, and because the errors seem to be coming from the PS2 port, a temporary solution could be to tell your X configuration to only use the USB mouse’s corresponding “/dev/input/mouse#” entry instead of the catch-all “/dev/input/mice”.
Also, have a look with “lsmod” if there are some PS2- or touchpad- related drivers modules that you could try blacklisting.
i have the same problem. i insert opensuse 11.2 cd then i choose intallination. at installination menus mouse not working. i am using standart ps-2 a4tech mouse. i tryed at mandriva, ubuntu and pardus installination it works. but with opensuse 11.2 my mouse isnt working. how cani solve that problem.
My mouse always works but occasionally it slows down to very slow and occasionally it jumps to one of the eight corners of my screens. Really annoying! >:(
Hi there!
The same problem here! A generic PS/2 mouse doesn’t work in openSUSE 11.2. I managed to install the system with the keyboard but I can’t make the mouse work. Has anybody found a solution?
Hi! I experienced the same quite annoying problem as bennohansen and got a “lost synchronization, throwing 2 bytes away” message. I’m not an expert. It is, I understand, a problem of the kernel. I read the following sites ‘2.6 input drivers FAQ’ - MARC](http://marc.info/?l=linux-kernel&m=107563039307153&w=2) and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.20/+bug/119194 (second about ubuntu).
Adding the kernel option “acpi_osi=linux” in the bootmanager accordingly solved the problem for me. But I do not know, what this option means and achieves, so I can’t exclude negative side-effects.
I suggest you get a cheap USB mouse from the supermarket and try that. IMHO it’s no good turning kernel options on/off, this may cause more trouble than it solves.
