Do mouse gestures work in KDE 5 like in KDE 4 out of the box for anyone on Opensuse 42.1? That is after putting them on in the settings. I have openSUSE Leap 42.1 with KDE Plasma 5 (version 5.4.2) fresh-installed (DVD image on usb stick) in two different machines. In neither they fully work. Mostly associated mouse button just ends working at all. So at this time I am asking just whether they work for someone.
Assuming that by “Mouse gestures” you mean “Touchpad gestures”, here on this Lenovo G505s (AMD chipset) running openSUSE 42.1, “2 finger scrolling”; “edge scrolling” and “reverse scrolling” are working fine.
YaST Hardware Information indicates that, the Touchpad is an ETPS/2 Elantech.
No not touchpad gestures. Sorry, should have specified bit more (Kind of assumed most would use this usefull feature…). See: https://userbase.kde.org/System_Settings/Shortcuts_and_Gestures#Mouse_Gestures
I mean gestures made with pressing one mouse button (I set second ergo left button) then quickly moving mouse cursor. It has worked on 13.2 (and prior) and KDE 4 with touchpad mouse, joystick mouse and separate usb-mouse. One can set any type of action to happen with any kind of gesture. Like move up gesture opens tab and move down closes tab in browsers. Or left is back and right is forward.
Yes libinput (named libinput10) is installed. But is not installed on machine where mouse gestures works. Touchpad and mouse gestures seem to be separate things.
If Mouse gestures are not familiar, see linked KDE Userbase article. There should be pre-installed Konqueror gestures. Note that in settings trigger mouse button numbering might go like 1=left, 2=middle 3=right.
Aaaahh!! Yes! Yet another Qt4 (KDE4 Plasma) versus Qt5 (KDE Plasma 5) issue . . .
Yes, with System Settings Version 4.11.20 under KDE Version 4.14.9, Mouse Gestures are there and they’re configurable.
With System Settings Version 5.5.5 under KDE Frameworks Version 5.21.0 and Qt Version 5.5.1, Mouse Gestures are not available.
Despite the Konqueror Mouse Gestures being listed in the Custom Shortcuts.

I tried the Mouse Gestures in a 13.2 Konqueror window – didn’t want to play with my mouse settings – I tend to have a rather fast (accelerates - large screen) mouse with slow detail for small movements (graphics) – maybe that’s why . . .

With the newest KDE Plasma 5 in the Leap 42.2 Beta test world, Mouse Gestures are available and they’re configurable:
System Settings Version 5.7.4 under KDE Frameworks Version 5.25.0 and Qt Version 5.6.1.

Please wait – for openSUSE Leap 42.2 due later this year . . .
Ok I will wait for 42.2 for production machine updates. But for testing purposes. Mouse gestures should work on 42.2 beta (currently beta 1 on https://software.opensuse.org/developer/en?release=developer)? Did you run this beta to know that they work or how do you know?
Yes, I’m running the Leap 42.2 Beta versions in an Oracle VirtualBox VM running on this Leap 42.1 Laptop (Dual-Boot Lenovo G505s – AMD – 1 Terabyte Hybrid-HDD – 8 GB memory) as a Beta Tester writing Bug Reports as the issues arise.
I also have an 13.2 Desktop with AMD CPU and Graphics as a stable production machine.
