Mouse Features under KDE4

Hi there,

how can I revert to the mouse functionality of KDE 3.5 after having installed KDE 4, i.e. that for instance the use of the right mouse key on the desktop offers the option of creating a new folder there, or right-clicking on an existing folder on the desktop lets me rename it or display the properties, or that I can drag and drop an item on the desktop into the recycle bin? Basically I was happy with KDE 3.5 functionality, I only had to upgrade because an application I need is only available for KDE 4 (kdenlive 0.7), so now I’m missing these features I have become used to (also as a former Windows XP user).

This is not a mouse issue but has to do with the Plasma development in the KDE4 branch. Bits of functionality are being added all the time and most of the features you are used to will be brought on as development continues.

Sure, it is a mouse behaviour under KDE 4 issue, and my question is, where can I change the settings. Or do you mean that KDE 4 will automatically update one day in such a manner that for instance right mouse button on desktop will offer a menu with the features I am used to from KDE 3.5 (lets say “create new folder”)??

What made you think that kdenlive 0.7 only runs under KDE4??
Have you even tried to run it under KDE3.x?

Right click on desktop -> Add widgets -> Folder View -> Add Widget

You’ll get a semi transparent box at the top left corner. Now, inside it, you can create folders by right click, rename them and whatever you were doing in KDE3.

Plasma is an entirely new concept of desktop. You can create as many folder views as possible, move them around and make them hold contents of any folder.
