I have opensuse 11.4 KDE version an after using it the mouse stops responding only to the left mouse click. The right click, the movement of the mouse and the wheel, everything else works. The touchpad also has the same problem but on gnome it seems to work. In gnome I configure the mouse as USB.
Same problem here. It is very annoying. Is there any solution to this bug? Is there already a bug report?
does it stop responding totally or does it flash the menu then disappear which is what is does for me, though intermittently. after a couple of clicks the menu does appear
I have a similar issue here.
Toshiba Tecra A9, openSUSE 11.4 (x86_64) KDE: 4.6.00 (4.6.0) “release 6”. As reported by sysinfo:/ (Note this system was upgraded in place over an openSUSE 11.0)
Using the inbuilt touch pad: Mouse moves OK, but does not seem to respond to acceleration setting. Physical buttons work OK. The tapping of the pad to emulate the mouse buttons is NOT working. The scroll, when moving finger at the side of the touch pad, is working.
Using a USB Wireless mouse works brilliantly.
As this is an upgrade is there a chance some configuration file(s) did not come across OK? Where should I be looking to see if this is the case? I find the Configurations tools for the new KDE very lacking in functionality this area.
Cheers
Jim
imo, all four of you need to search the 11.4 bugs to see if this bug
is already reported and
if it is, then add your specific new info (hardware, etc)…
or if it is not already filed one of you need to, soon…
begin here, please: http://en.opensuse.org/Submitting_Bug_Reports
because, posting about it here does not start anyone working on the
problem…it must go into a bug report!!

Denver, I can fully confirm this issue. Furthermore, I can assure that it is NOT related to desktop effects (turned off here) or your graphic card (I have an intel one). It seems not to be related to GTK apps neither.
jimpye, your issue has nothing to do with the bug we are talking about. You can config your touchpad in kde->system settings->input devices->touchpad. It’s not an intelligent choice, but tapping is disabled by default in synaptiks.
Someone should report a bug. I currently have no time for this, but I would join it as soon as possible.

that is the problem: until someone with the problem has enough time
to contribute to the open source cause to actually log a bug, it
gets no dev attention…
i do not have the problem…we can only hope that “someone” who does
will go to http://en.opensuse.org/Submitting_Bug_Reports and log it…
and, then come back to this thread and post the bug number so other
CAN join in…
by the way, this bug may already be logged (which “someone” who looks
will find, because the first step of logging a bug is searching the
list to see if it exists) … if it is, that should be noted here so
all with the problem can add their hardware/software info…
it WILL speed up the fix.

I have more or less the same problems, my touchpad often slows down, movements crawl, and tapping stops working. After moving the mouse fast or clicking a button the tapping works again for a while. I filed a report at bugzilla a while ago, haven’t heard anythinng since. Bug 682045

thank you, now if everyone with the problem will add to it, here:
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=682045
unfortunately, as long as it stays with only ONE person reporting it,
it will probably be ignored…i mean, if 100,000 have no problem, and
one does, they will probably think it is one person’s a setup problem
and not a programming problem.
so, they are all busy fixing the bugs found by dozens (or thousands)
of people…

Tried LibreOffice? Do that and help at http://is.gd/dZ9j2W

Hello
I’ve the same issue on an HP Pavillion with a Synaptics Touchpad.
1.451558] Synaptics Touchpad, model: 1, fw: 6.2, id: 0x1a0b1, caps: 0xa04713/0x200000/0x0
1.512265] input: SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad as /devices/platform/i8042/serio1/input/input1
The left mouse button of a connected ubs mouse stops to work irregulary.
There are no messages in the log apart from the following
[234279.117918] psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 4
[234279.119622] psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1
[234279.127911] psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 - driver resynched.
I don’t know if this message was generated when stopping to work …
Usb mouse doesn’t work UNTIL I press the left “mouse” button of the touchpad,
after that the mouse works again!!
How can we debug the issue?
I have no problem to debug the issue but don’t know with what?
Can we enable more logging for kde or touchpad driver?
This problem seems to be occure only with the usage of touchpad…
Have now disabled the touchpad (with off-button, not in system)
to see if the problem does apear…
BTW: On my server with same system but without touchpad I have no problems.
It seems that maybe a resynch of touchpad will disable mouse events forward to kde
or something similar…
Greetings

just add your comments to the already existing bug, here:
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=682045
I having same issue… After open the plasma File Manager on Kde4 and not responding. That was start the my mouse click not working anymore…
after fresh reboot i was able to execute click but when the KDE(or desktop) started serving, mouse click already not working.
I check the Bug report and it sounds like no response from developer yet…
