I have 2 External hard drives on my computer. One is a 160 gig Seagate and the other a 500 gig Maxtor One Touch. Suse will Automount them with no problem. My Problem is that every time i have to reboot the computer (mainly to go into windows) my drive in the /media will collect a line at the end
ex:
Data 500 Gig_______
Is there a way i can get Suse to automount with out adding another line to the end this looks very tacky when i open the drive and my title in nautilus will look something like this
Data 500 Gig_______________-File Browser
ofcourse each time i have to visit windows i get a new extention to the line
Hi
Next time you boot into windows, label the drive (right-click
->properties), then next time your in linux it should mount
under /media/<label>

Sorry for the delay in my repost I had to work today just now got home anyway both of the drives have a label
500 g = Data 500 Gig
150 g = Myne
I still get the problem with both giving me the line at the end.
Is it possible for Suse to be switching the drives??
ie:
this boot
500 g = sdb
150 g = sdc
next boot
500 g = sdc
150 g = sdb
I wonder if this is what is happening?
Hi
Only if your using different usb ports I would have thought? Also not
user, but can you try to relabel the name so there are no spaces, use
an _

thanx malcom i’ll try doing that and see what happens i mean its not a major issue i can still access the drives just a pain to look at in the title bars and in the /media folder
That didnt seem to help i renamed the maxtor from Data 500 Gigs to
Maxtor booted back into openSuse and when i rebooted to check it gave me a Maxtor_ folder for the Maxtor external drive (and No I have not messed with the cables or anything)
Hi
Unmount your usb devices, then go into the /media directory and
remove all the mount directories that exist for each of the devices.

2.Myne
I rebooted and checked again still only 2 folders and everthing seems to be working Keeping my fingers crossed that the problem is now solved.
Thanks alot for your help and time in this small matter that was really kewl.
Hi
