Hello, people
this is my first post in this forum, (I have just recently installed openSUSE), and this is my problem:
Beside the ntfs partition that i have on my hard disk, which mounts on boot perfectly, it creates somewhat strange mountpoint /windows/C I have another 177 GB partition with a whole ubuntu on it. And it is not mounted on boot like the ntfs partition.
So my question is what should I do to make it mount on startup as well?
And how to replace the dolphin with konqueror file manager
First post – welcome to the Forums, I hope you have a pleasant stay.
You can make a mount point for the ext3 partition, e.g. at /mnt/ubuntu (or whatever), and in yast –> system –> partitioner, locate the partition and “edit” it so the mount point is /mnt/ubuntu (or whatever). Then it will mount at boot time.
With Konqueror – find it in the menu and right-click and drag it to the taskbar/panel. From there on you can click that to activate it.
it worked just fine with the partitioner from Yast.
But the problem with konqueror still persist. In the menu there is no konqueror as a file manager, there is only in superuser mode. And when i tried to open “personal files” in the menu the konqueror crashed with signal SIGSEGV and gave this error:

There’s got to be a way to get rid of the dolphin and use konqueror instead.
Konqueror (non -superuser ie ordinary user) is available in Kickoff menu → Applications → System → File Manager → Personal files
“Personal files” icon is Konqueror under an assumed name. Drag it to the Panel and your problems are over.
Did you upgrade the installed KDE 4.0 to 4.1.x? 4.0 was very immature, and a lot of bugs have been worked out since release. That’s what is most likely your Konq problem. You’ll find upgrade 1-clicks on the KDE repo page, “Factory 11.0 KDE 4.1” - but don’t do that today. This repo is not static, it holds on-going development towards 11.1 and the software is always changing. It’s been very stable considering all the changes. But as it turns out at the moment there is an issue that won’t be resolved until next week. Wait until then.
I just saw the “in a week” and “next week” a couple of times yesterday; I took that to mean by end of next work week. There have been 2 big glitches; the 1st from ~wk ago (“checkerboard”) can be fixed by adding the Qt repo and updating libqt4. The 2nd appeared several days ago; that’s the one still waiting for a fix.
OK you can set up a widget/doo-dad/thingy on the Desktop like this:
Open console and enter the command:
konqueror /home/your_username/Desktop
Konquroro will (I hope) open in file manager mode at the directory “Desktop”. R-click the empty space and select Create new → Link to application. Fill it in as Konqueror file manager – Under the tab “Application” put in the space for Command put this entry:
'/opt/kde3/bin/konqueror' /home/your_username
Include the single quotation marks
It will open at the location you specify; e.g. /home/your_username will make it the same as the old “Home” icon that you are used to.
