More Problems with Nvidia Drivers

Ok

So, I downloaded the drivers for my Nvidia 8800 GT Card. I tried to install them the Hard Way.

First problem I had was that it was trying to connect to the internet when I finally gained access to installing the Drivers. I had to save them onto my Home folder because everytime I tried the *cd /root/desktop * Which is where I saved the drivers in the first place. It kept coming up as “Directory does not exist”. Just so everyone knows, this is after I accessed the Init 3 command. I made sure to follow all the directions that I copied from the Wiki NVidia page. Anyways, after trying a numerous amount of times I just moved it to where I’d be able to access it in the Console.

Ok so now the real problem. After installing the drivers from the Console on Runtime 3, it tells me that I need to run SaX2, so I reboot the computer, bring it up as Root, and then accessed SaX2 using Yast, And went into the Graphics and Monitor settings. So now I’m lost because I don’t know what to do next. :frowning:

Hi
It all needs to be done at init 3. And root’s desktop is a capital D…
linux is case sensitive :slight_smile:

cd /root/Desktop
sh NV*.run -q
sax2 -r -m 0=nvidia
init 5 && exit
ctrl+alt+F1
exit
ctrl+alt+F7

The ctrl+alt+F7 gets you back to the GUI (X session).

ok I’ll try that but about the cd /root/Desktop I did have the capital D for Desktop but it still told me that the Directory doesn’t exist. Oh well now I’ll try the next step when I get home tonight.

Hey thanks for the help now I finally got the drivers in and it’s doing the job :smiley:
