Pls forgive me if I am posting this in a wrong forum.
Recently I had some problems with downloading the DVD iso. Pls find mnore details on this thread which I opened for that.Making SuSe11 DVD - openSUSE Forums.
I am sure that there will be many people out there who face the same challenge. So is it possible to have a new download method to overcome these situations?. I think something like “Jigdo” would be a nice choice.
Is there some plans to add more options for download?.
If you are limited to 3GB downloads you are going to be in trouble at
some point. Now how does your corporate policy spell this out?
Individual files can’t be that big? That much space over a period of
time? If you were to use a Torrent (Azureus is my favorite client,
though there are dozens if not hundreds of options) you would
technically be downloading one file but not all at once. Some companies
have policies against P2P software as well and others have policies
against just using them illegally. P2P for torrents like this is
completely legitimate so I would go that route. If nothing else
download it at home (if you have the time/bandwidth) or appeal for an
exception when you are trying to do something for work that is prevented
by the company. They may have that policy largely to prevent movie
sharing or something. I guess I would recommend trying as many routes
as possible… technical, political, etc.
Good luck.

sorry for the delayed response on it. As you mentioned p2p is blocked to prevent movie and other illegal downloads. The maximum file size is less than 2GB. Getting an approval for exclusion is very very tough/time consuming.(it might take months :). In this situation I found Jigdo as a good download method(i used it to download Debian and it worked fine).Otherwise I request Novell/OpenSuSe people to make the CDs available again.

Technically they do with the 2 installable LiveCD’s.
