Monitor turns off by itself

I’m using OpenSuse 11.4, unless I keep typing or changing something on the monitor via the mouse, after a few minutes the monitor turns off by itself. A movement of the mouse or typing any keys restores the monitor image. My video card is built into the mother board. I do not have this problem with Ubuntu, nor with Windows XP SP3 running in the same box.

Please, what to do to have normal usage of OpenSuse?

Does the pending release of OpenSuse 12.1 fix this problem?

Thank You
Dan

KDE or Gnome?

Many thanks for this, it does seem that your download has fixed the problem. Previously the monitor shut off every 4:45 minutes. Now its been running for over a half an hour, and no monitor shut down.
Again, many thanks for your kind and very fast reply with a fix !
Very much appreciated.
Best regards
Dan

hey! he didn’t send you a fix or tell you to download anything!!

instead he asked one question: “(are you running) KDE or Gnome?”

DD
openSUSE®, the “German Automobiles” of operating systems

Hi,

I come across the same problem today that the user was mentioning. May I know what to download to fix this problem? I am running a KDE desktop and openSUSE 11.4 on a 64 bit computer.

Thanks,

Kumar
