v11.1 low level power management screen saver removal - openSUSE Forums
thankyou that fixed it, i set the time in power settings to disable and the screen is no longer turning off.
Thanks for the feedback.
It should be noted, that once you move to kde4.4>
Settings change and I find you need employ different tactics.
I’ve moved to KDE 4.4, and have the same problem. What new tactics are needed to stop this problem in 4.4?
Go to the System Settings > Advanced section > Power Management
Enable as shown here. I use 130 mins for my value, which is plenty for me, I’ll not sit there watching flash movies any longer than that.

But I didn’t enable the screen powersaving under the individual profiles, see this Eg:

Thank you for the examples. I’ll give them a try.

Tried your examples, and no luck. The screen still goes blank after about 5 or so minutes of no mouse or keyboard input. I’ve got the screen saver set off, power management as you suggested. Tried the xset commands in one of the earlier post, and still no joy. (Checked the BIOS settings too, and they’re off also.)
In the 2nd image try setting that to enabled and enter a similar high value
I was out of town for a few days, and now am playing catch up . . .
Tried your suggestion still no luck. This is beginning to sound like “the screen saver/screen blanker that would not die.”
I’ve gone back over the settings, and I have everything turned off that should shut this thing off or set it for a longer period of time. Not sure where to go from here. Bug Report?
Back in 10.1 I accidentally activated the kernel screen blanker. This was a real pain and I never found where to turn it off. The setterm command is what controls this but I never found a good place to actually set it off for the GUI terminal.
