Have you been to Yast - Hardware
Graphics and Monitor
Choose LCD----1400x900

Try the viewsonic monitor’s auto screen adjustment control if it has one.

Tried changing to lcd in yast still same problem

and when i change hori length via viewsonic buttons when i log back to windows it becomes to large

Is Yast identifying your LCD correctly? VA1703wb

It would appear that this is what you can configure.
Modes “1280x1024” “1280x960” “1024x768” “800x600”

Do you have video drivers installed?
Because if no driver is installed you would be limited to configuring some resolutions.

On the bright side…You said
" when I log back to windows it becomes to large"
You can only display one OS at a time.

Are you on an Intel chipset?

If so there may be some info here of help
Patch the Video BIOS - openSUSE
