Monitor over hdmi no longer recognized

I use tumbleweed on laptop.
Normally i have a monitor connected via hdmi.
Since today no longer recognized.
Maybe because of an update…Mesa?
The monitor does not get signal and the computer recognizes only the internal one.

14:37 $ xrandr --listmonitors
Monitors: 1
0: +*eDP-1 1366/345x768/194+0+0 eDP-1

The internal monitor looks fine.

@ereissner Hi, what graphics involved, can you show the output from inxi -Gxxz

Is it physically detected?

ls -l /sys/class/drm

sure: output is

whatever this means…

It means that kernel does not detect this output, so it is unrelated to Mesa.

Please, use preformatted text to post computer output.

I will use. It is via

test

I tried to use older kernel, without success.

@ereissner I suspect you Nvidia gpu drives the external port on this hybrid laptop and since driver is N/A this it why it’s not working.

Your using the G05 driver? Also suse-prime?

@malcomlewis: uuuuh, N/A, where do you read this off??
A package named suse-prime is installed, yes.
G05… how can I find out? Should there be a package with that name?

Are you sure the monitor is OK and it’s not a hardware defect? Tried connecting it to something else like TV box with HDMI out, a game console, etc.?

@ereissner in this output;

Can you post the output from /sbin/lspci -nnk | grep -EA3 "VGA|Display|3D"

@darkhog: no I am not sure… but in my evening I get access to another monitor.
Yesterday with that second monitor it worked.
So In my evening I can answer your question…
Lets keep in contact.

OK, so if the other monitor works, it’s most likely some sort of hardware defect (either broken cable or the monitor itself). You’d want to check the first one with a different cable, then as I’ve said, try connecting it to a different device like console or TV box, if it won’t work with any other device, then that monitor is broken.

@ereissner You need to force the re-install of the nvidia kmp rpm as it likely needs rebuilding for the running kernel and reboot.

Cable I checked: problem is with any cable.
Monitor I check in my evening.

Question: why don’t you take the GPU into account? because the internal monitor works fine?

Hello @marcomlewis: Now I know what you mean by G05:
I found installed nvidia-open-driver-G06-signed-kmp-default.

you mean I shall command zypper in -f nvidia-open-driver-G06-signed-kmp-default?

@ereissner Your system needs only G05, if G06 is installed, that is wrong.

Oh ■■■■■ … whoever did it… What do you suggest? Just uninstall and install the G05?

Yast does not offer something like G05 for me… Which repo??

@ereissner yes, you need to switch over to the G05 packages, note they are different set from the G06 ones, so check package names…
