Modifying openSUSE-repos repoindex.xml permanently?

I installed the openSUSE-repos-Tumbleweed package and let it replace all the default repos.
I would like to append “?AVOID_COUNTRY” to the baseurls.
I followed the instructions in the readme here and modified the repoindex.xml (well, modified the target of that symlink, which was opensuse-tumbleweed-repoindex.xml in the same directory).

The modification worked, but as I suspected might happen, the change wasn’t permanent.
I was wondering what the best way was to make my changes (i.e., ?AVOID_COUNTRY) permanent?

Is there a mechanism like drop-in files/directories that can be used to modify the repoindex.xml?
The alternative I was thinking was to take a modified copy of repoindex.xml and register it manually, and uninstall the automated openSUSE-repos-Tumbleweed package.

Thank you!

Not that I am aware of. The very purpose of zypper services is to remotely manage available repositories and their URLs. Being able to override them locally rather defeats it.

Copy that. Thanks.
I’ll try alternative manual method I was thinking of then.
