Modding Amarok

I would like to know how to change Amarok to pull it’s info from wikipedia to metal-archives.com Does anyone know how to do this?

This one guys did it here: MIB - Mandriva International Backports - Mandriva Linux Forum - OpenMandriva Linux Forum - ROSA Linux Forum • View topic - Amarok 1.4.10 with Metal-Archives.com support patch
But left no download link

The patch would probably be available through Mandriva repos :frowning:

Hi
Isn’t clementine the backport? that link appears to be the patch, can
it not be adapted for amarok?

I’ll try it, but where and how would the patch be applied?

Hi
You would need to grab the source and then look at the patch (each
file indicated by the ‘diff’), for example;

diff -urN clementine-1.0.0/src/ui/mainwindow.cpp clementine-1.0.0-patched/src/ui/mainwindow.cpp

In amarok is there a mainwindow.cpp file, this would then need adapting
as per each change, then recompiling.

I have little experience in coding, so could you please give me a step by step explanation?

Hi
Looking at the Amarok code and the patch it is quite a bit different, adding that patch to clementine-player (since it hasn’t been merged) should get it going I assume. Else someone with more experience with c++ may be able to assist you in comparing and patching Amarok…

so do you know anyone that can help?

Hi
I would suggest the Amarok maintainers; https://build.opensuse.org/package/users?package=amarok&project=KDE%3ADistro%3AFactory probably Raymond Wooninck (tittiatcoke) who has an account on the forum. Send him a PM and ask if something could be done, or the best way forward.

Thanks. I sent him a message a few hours ago. Hope he responds
