MKV Extractor Qt equivalent for openSUSE

Hello all,

I tried to find a similar thread but couldn’t.
Is there a alternative for MKV Extractor Qt for openSUSE?

Would appreciate any help.

Thank you in advance.

MKVToolNix
http://software.opensuse.org/package/mkvtoolnix
https://mkvtoolnix.download

zypper in mkvtoolnix

although the mkv container format is open most of the codecs used are not so don’t forget to fo a full vendor change to packman

edit
you could use ffmpeg (from packman) tor extracting video/audio from mkv files

Thank you for your reply.

I do have mkvtoolnix installed. What I am interested in is the GUI program like MKV extractor Qt to extract subtitle files, like in Arch: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/mkv-extractor-qt
The program itself is located in https://launchpad.net/~hizo/+archive/ubuntu/mkv-extractor-gui/

Does mkvtoolnix have a gui for extracting subtitles that I don’t know about?

Thank you

your question was

Is there a **alternative **for MKV Extractor Qt for openSUSE?

and the answer is yes mkvtoolnix-gui
http://software.opensuse.org/package/mkvtoolnix-gui
about MKV Extractor Qt it’s a python app and all it needs to run is the appropriate version of python 2.7 or 3.2
https://www.linux-apps.com/content/show.php/MKV+Extractor+Qt
just download a build
http://hizo.fr/linux/mkv_extractor_gui/MKV-Extractor-Qt-precise.tar.gz
extract it with ark and run it, it doesn’t have to be installed

Sorry that I formulated my question in a wrong way.

I will try:

just download a build
http://hizo.fr/linux/mkv_extractor_g…precise.tar.gz
extract it with ark and run it, it doesn’t have to be installed

Thank you.

When I extract the files in the MKV-Extractor-Qt-precise.tar.gz file. I see three *.py files. ui_MKVExtractorQt.py - MKVExtractorQt.py and MKVRessources_rc.py

When I press on ui_MKVExtractorQt.py dolphin asks me if I want to execute it, which I do, but nothing happens.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you for your time.

In order to run MKVExtractorQt.py I had to install the following via YaST:

python-qt4

python-qt4-utils

python3-qt4

python3-qt4-devel

Then right click on MKVExtractorQt.py and choose to run with Python3.
