Missing iw* commands

I installed opensuse11.0 from a dvd in a trade paperback “bible”-type book. Despite instructions in said book, running ‘sudo ls /sbin’ outputs a multitude of commands, including ifconfig, but none of iwlist, iwconfig, etc.

And bash can’t find the iw* commands with ‘which’, either.

I’m puzzled. I used every automatic option during the install. Was that a mistake?

Try the ‘whereis’ command as a normal user.

It shows my iw* commands in /usr/sbin

Thanks. I don’t promise that my future queries will be any smarter!

‘iwconfig’, on SLE (based on SUSE 10), lives in /usr/sbin.

On a side note the ‘sudo’ before an ‘ls’ in this case seems silly…
everybody has rights to at least list the /sbin directory by default.
Whatever…

Good luck.
