Missing Arial font

Lo,
I just installed openSuSE 11.2 and I am missing the font Arial and some other Windows fonts.
The package liberation-fonts is installed but I remember some there where some errors during installation (could not download xyz)

How can I reinstall these fonts? I tried to reinstall liberation-fonts already but it did not help.

Try the package **fetchmsttfonts **

tried the package fetchmsttfonts.
The error message is:
Trying to find the fastest server:

jaist ... to slow (aborted)
...
internap ... to slow (aborted)

It seems all server the script uses are down.

Strange…was working for me a couple of days ago.

Try the following command (all one line);


sudo
sh /var/adm/update-scripts/fetchmsttfonts-11.2-6.6.12-fetchmsttfonts.sh.txt

There were some issues with the script a while back.

Works great. But how can I install a .exe file on a linux system?

Now everything seems to be ok. I called the script once more and the voxel server is now available. But all others are still down.

You just need to edit the script, are you familiar with vi? else run
using gnomesu or kdesu;


gnomesu
gedit /var/adm/update-scripts/fetchmsttfonts-11.2-6.6.12-fetchmsttfonts.sh.txt

On the line SERVER remove the jaist line and save the file, then re run.

This is more than a coincidence I think. Almost 3 years later and I’m having the exact same server issues. All down but Voxel and then it is trying to extract from andale.exe and failing over and over. ??

I am trying to recover from boxes instead of fonts. It started after getting a huge update done. I even upgraded to 12.3 and still have the boxes. I have installed every font I can think of, but this one. Hope I can get it.

Later: UPDATE
I was unable to upate via yast2. I WAS able to download it via sh /var/adm/update-scripts/fetchmsttfonts-11.4-13.1.1-fetchmsttfonts.sh.txt. Note newer version number… unfortunately for me it does not look like this was my problem. :frowning:
