Tell us which desktop you are using? Do you get a speaker icon in the icon tray? No speaker, means no mixer is loading which means no sound card is being detected. On the other hand, if there is a speaker icon in your icon tray, you have a detected sound card/chipset so you need to visit your speaker icon and make sure all channels are turned up and nothing is muted (except for your mic input). You might even tells what your options are there. I do have a sound system test script, if you do have a speaker icon present called start. Download and run through the tests and tell us of the results.

Thank You,

If you are using the KDE desktop, then you need to look at the KMenu (ie start menu) > Configure Destkop > Multimedia > Backend and tell us what backend you have selected. i.e. xine ? gstreamer ? vlc ?

When you state “you tried instal alsa drivers” that leaves me with trepidation. What EXACTLY did you do ? What files / rpms are now installed that were not there before you tried this ?

Do you have any sound at all now having messed with your alsa driver ?

At this moment i got installed:

alsa; alsa-devel; alsa-doc; alsa firmware; alsa-oss; alsa-plugins(jack/maemo/pulse/samplerate/speex/utils included).

alsa-plugins-pulse; libpulse-mainloop-glib0; libpulse0; libxine-pulse;
pulseaudio.

Thanks, but that does not mean much without knowing the EXACT version number. What versions of those ? You can obtain that by typing:

rpm -qa '*alsa*'

What was the answer to my question about your desktop ? Gnome or KDE ? And if KDE what backend ?

i am using kde desktop 32bit. I deleted some drivers and trying to find solution myself, but nothing… :frowning:

rpm -qa '*alsa*'

alsa-oss-1.0.17-29.2.i586
alsa-firmware-1.0.23-1.2.noarch
alsa-plugins-1.0.23-1.9.i586
alsa-utils-1.0.23-1.8.i586
alsa-1.0.23-2.12.i586

What EXACTLY did you delete?

That looks ok.

What is the output URL/address provided when you run the diagnostic information providing script (with your PC connected to the internet, select ‘upload/share’ option):

/usr/sbin/alsa-info.sh

Also, what is your criteria for stating your sound works or does not work? What speaker test are you using?

At the moment i can’t say what files i deleted, because i am updating system.

/usr/sbin/alsa-info.sh

Newer version detected: 0.4.59

ALSA-Info script has been downloaded as /tmp/alsa-info.u5GHCzdbpa.
Please re-run the script from new location.

I hope you want this. If not, please tell what i need to do. :frowning:

No that is not what is needed. I do NOT want the change log!

Please run that script again, and if it states there is an update, then select “NO” and do not update, and then select “SHARE/UPLOAD” and it will give you a URL/address. That is what is wanted.

Take a look at the example in the stickie: Welcome to multimedia sub-area

Did you read the stickie? We deliberately create those stickie to try and help our users, and to save them time, and save us time.

Now i can heard start system sound, but no sound on flash videos and 1 more thing, i can’t listen mp3 files, no plugin or codec for it. I am looking for it, but i haven’t found it :(…

Only these drivers are installed now:

alsa
alsa-firmware/utils/oss/plugins
libpulse0
libpulse-mainloop-glib0
libxin1-pulse

Ok, that looks good.

It does bring to mind some other questions, but before I ask those, there is something MUCH more important which you have not answered yet.

Please look at this quote

Please, I need to know that. WHAT is your criteria for stating your sound works or does not work? What speaker test are you using?

Looks like you edited your post!

OK, then you need to read our how-to-faq area for new users. Specifically read this and follow the directions: Multi-media and Restricted Format Installation Guide

its simple. if i can heard sounds - in works, if not - it don’t working. At the moment i heard only system start sounds.

Ok, I done everything what I need to do at this tutorial Multi-media and Restricted Format Installation Guide But same thing. System start sounds is ok, mp3 files - ok,but flash video sounds - don’t work.

Now that you are almost there. Why not run the script mmcheck to make sure every detail is correct. Message #40 has the most recent version:
