Hello
I plan to connect to my server (Suse 11.3) as a “Road Warrior” via OpenVPN, which is already set up and working. Because I do not have
a static IP I am using DynDNS as a workaround. I have installed and configured ddclient (Version 3.8.0-9.1) but if I want to start it the rc-script
always outputs “Starting ddclient daemon : failed”. Despite this message the daemon seems to be starting as it should - it is running according to “ps aux” and
there is a message in /etc/var/log/messages which says that the IP was updated successfully. I probably could leave it at that but I want to make sure that
there is no other underlying problem which will come back to haunt me when I am on the road and trying to connect. Any suggestions? My configuration is as follows:
/etc/sysconfig/ddclient
DDCLIENT_INTERVALL=“300”
DDCLIENT_OPTIONS="-verbose"
/etc/ddclient.conf
syslog=yes
mail-failure=stefan
pid=/var/run/ddclient.pid
use=if, if=ppp0
login=XXXXX
password=XXXXX
protocol=dyndns2
server=members.dyndns.org
XXXXX.dyndns.org
Yours sincerely
