I want to know the minimum requirements of newly released OpenSUSE 11.1 for optimal performance.
(I have a Compaq Presario Desktop with 512MB RAM, Intel 845 CS, 320 G HDD and i tried OpenSUSE 11.0 few time ago on this syatem but it was painfully slow(with Gnome & KDE both) and faced some display and startup delay related issues too.)
That’s an interesting request… the MINIMUM requirements for BEST
(optimal) performance? I have it running quickly in a little junky
Xen VM with 384 MB RAM though the host is fairly decent with its quad
core processor (the VM is only allocated two of four processors). I
would probably use a Pentium 4 or Athlon 2000+ or later to have a decent
time… of course the more you give the box the happier it will be. I
would definitely have 1GB RAM or more (minimum these days). Basically
any box you CAN buy new will be fine in most cases, and anything you
give beyond that will just make it that much snappier.
Good luck.
