Recently i upgraded from Suse 10.3 to Suse 11.2. There was a option available on 10.3 for minimizing all the opened windows to see “Desktop”, and that was “Alt+Cntrl+d”
The same is not working on 11.2 (even i tried Alt+d, Window+d).
Could anyone help me solve this ???
Thanks,
I can not find a preconfigured shortcut for showing the desktop and right now I do not know how to set that up, but there is a widget called ‘show desktop’ which you could add to the taskbar.
Edit: Found it! Go to KDEs systemsettings → Keyboard & Mouse → Global keyboard shortcuts → the field “KDE component” is a dropdown menu, choose “KWin” → search for the entry “Show desktop” → configure the shortcut and hit “apply”.
Are you using KDE desktop?
If yes then it is disabled by default which i knows. You can enable it and assign custom key from Configure desktop -> Keyboard & Mouse (In General tab) -> Global Keyboard Shortcuts. Try out the Kwin option.
There is also a widget named ‘show desktop’ which you can add to taskbar panel.
In Gnome, i am sorry cant help in that.
Hint: If you search for show desktop in the Global Keyboard shortcuts window, you can assign key to it. How to assign custom key, simply choose check box in front of custom and press the button named None, then mouse over on the button to show you how to assign key.
Hope this helps.

Hello chandra2487,
I Tried the configure the keyboard shourtcut options, but could not find anything called “Show Desktop”. Any help?
I couldn’t find it either.
But I found an other way.
Add the widget “Show Desktop” to your desktop or to your panel.
Right-click and choose “Configure Show Desktop”.
You’ll see only one option and that is to set a shortcut.
Good luck!
Hmmm KDE 4 has a new way Show plasma dashboard. This brings all the plasma widgets to the foreground. The widget that does is looks like multiple windows and is normally next to the menu widget.
