Migrating 11.0 to new hardware raid fails

Hopefully, this is the right forum for this. If not, please let me know where the right forum is

I am trying to migrate suse 11.0 to a new hardware raid. I used Image For Linux to copy an image of the old raid to the new raid.

Before doing this, I edited my fstab file to replace all entries in this form - /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SAdaptec_Linux_6B4D3574-partX with enties like this /dev/sdaX - where X is the partition number.

To test it, I rebooted before doing the image and replacing the drive, and the new fstab file works fine.

So, I imaged the old raid and copied that image to the new raid. Just after the usb-hid driver loads, I get a complaint from something - I do not know what - that says something like - cannot find /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SAdaptec_Linux_6B4D3574-part2 (which is where I mount / ) do you want me to wait for it? If I say yes, it searches and, of course, does not find it then drops to a command prompt. So, I figure that I missed a file that refers to the disk by ID. Anyone out there know what file I missed?

If I did not miss a file, anyone out there know what might be causing this and what I might do to resolve it?

Thanks.
Best Regards,
Matthew

PS - I am planning on going to 11.3 at some point, but for me, it would be much easier to migrate to the new raid before I upgrade to 11.3.

The initrd file, probably.

You changed ftab but did you change /boot/grub/menu.lst?

BTW you do know that OpenSuse 11.0 is no longer supported?? Or is it SLED 11.0 Which is the commercial version?

No. I did not. Thanks for pointing this out; I would not have thought of it without your help. I am responding from the new raid after taking your suggestion; your suggestions worked perfectly

It is OpenSuse 11.0, and yes, I am aware it is no longer supported. Sometime in the not too distant future, I intend to upgrade to 11.3, as I stated in my original post.
