Microsoft

So could someone please explain to me what Microsoft’s relationship with Novell an openSUSE is and what it means for openSUSE? I’m kinda confused over here.

We have not relationship with Microsoft. Novel has SUSE. Opensuse community has Openssuse with help of Novel.

Novell has an inter-polarity agreement with Microsoft

un-confuse yourself:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novell#Agreement_with_Microsoft

their “relationship” was a business one in which (among other
things) MS ensured compatibility between their software and Novell’s
and sold millions of dollars worth of SUSE Linux Enterprise systems to
their (MS) customers…

the “relationship” ended sometime back when the contract expired…

nothing to be confused about…

in the mean time, Novell is apparently sold to Attachmate…which you
can also read about in the Wikipedia…
