Hi, newbie here.
Short version of the post:
I have a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 (Intel i5, 8 Gb RAM) and I would like to know if anybody managed to have the touchscreen working.
If so, please let me know how (with quite step by step instructions, I am not mastering either Linux or OpenSUSE). The kernel version should be 6.2.8-21 x86_64
Thank you very much in advance
Long version:
I wanted to try to see if I could switch the Surface Pro 4 to Linux … so I tested different distributions in dual boot. Based on what I found in linux-surface · GitHub
I finally was quite happy with my first experience with openSUSE, and I would like to stick to it if I find the way to have the touchscreen working (I am not interested in the pen). I can tell you that all the distributions I tested did not have the touchscreen working out of the box (Fedora/Mint/Debian/OpenSUSE). All of the them, apart OpenSUSE, had issues with the touchscreen after following the instructions of the link above (screen flickering/opening randomly some windows/not recognizing the taps… unusable, in the end). When I followed the instructions with OpenSUSE, the strange thing is that nothing happened with 6.2.9-1, but I had to go back to 6.2.8.21 and apply the patches… ok… the only positive thing is that the screen is not flickering, and I can still use the mouse, but the touchscreen is not recognizing my taps correctly … if I make my finger rest on some elements, sometimes they react (is it an issue of responsiveness?), some others seem not to be activated … is it any further set up / adjustment to be made?
This is the first time that I have tried OpenSUSE, and I have to say that, for some reasons, I have liked it, therefore I would be happy to keep it if I found the way how to make the touchscreen usable. Otherwise, please let me know where I could turn to, unfortunately touchscreen is very important to me, and I have not found any (easy or clear) resource online that could help me.
Thank you very much in advance for your support
