messed up the suse during zypper-systemupdate - how to continue!?

hello and good evening

after a unsuccessful zypper-dub i think i have messed up the current system - a opensuse version 12.2
i wanted to upgrade to the new version - to version 13.1

Note: the upgrade process was not successful:

i have had issues with starting the system again - guessing that there was tooo less space for KDE

well - have a look at the system

what about the data - and the system. I am very very glad that i can access the system again - for more than 20 hours i had issues with KDE - guessing that there was too little space.

**
questions: **What would you do now!? How would you continue?
Well - what do you advice to get a secure and clever updating to opensuse 13.1?

Do you have an advice and an idea!?

look forward to hear from you

Are you able to replace the hard disk drive with a larger unit? You’ve already made a backup of your data, so you could do a clean install, and copy the data across once the install is complete.

Upgrades should be incremental FYI

If you have a backup, probably myself I’d clean install and restore my files and settings as required

**hello dear deano-ferrari and **caf 4926

many many thanks for the quick reply

great to hear from you.

well - i guess that you are right - many thanks for the good advices!

think i will go the way of a clean install.

greetings

I’m sorry, but I have doubts about what he has really done.

On some posts he says he did “zypper up” from “12.2 to 13.1”. Others say “12.3 to 13.1”. Others say,
as this one, “zypper-dub”, a command which does not exist.

Several people have answered that it is “zypper dup” what he has to do.
Of course, a “zypper dup” from 12.2 to 13.1 does not work, it will brick the machine (90% sure).

To no avail, I don’t know if he understands. I will refrain from posting anymore in this thread, I’m
afraid I’m no use. I hope you have more luck and communication skills than me.

He has been advised to start over with a clean install, (but I think he’ll almost certainly need to replace the HDD with a larger unit, before proceeding).

hello dear Deano_ferrari hello dear Robin

many thanks for the replies…

thx for the hints - and all your advices. BTW - i t is a 500 GB - HDD - guess that it is enough - but probably i have to do a better configuration… What do you say!?

AGAIN - many many thanks for the hints and advices - Robin, Deano and all the contributors here.

i did a fresh install: see what i did!
