IMNSHO The most dangerous stance sysadmins and devs can have. Example: My boss in 1997 did not want to give me budget ( time- and moneywise ) for that “imaginary” Y2K problem. His reasoning: our systems work fine, no fixing of “imaginary” bugs. Well, that changed after he entered next year’s financial budget data in Jan. 1999. Traditionally he spent ~10 days putting everything on paper. then 2 days hammering all the numbers in the system. To find out that these had “disappeared” ( never told him they were actually there, but with “00” as the year, did tell him that the imaginary problems needed imaginary fixing first ).
So, any dev / sysadmin needs to look ahead and fix things that work, before they stop working. TRUTH

P.S. As a dev / sysadmin make sure you now and then “let something happen”. The best devs / packagers are the least appreciated.
