MeshLab 1.2.3a

Hi, I tried to compile MeshLab 1.2.3a but I was not successful.

I would like MeshLab to be included in one of the repositories like Geo, Science or Education.

Thank you

jose

Why didn’t it compile? Create a repository and get it up and running,
then see what it takes to get it contributed to one of the official ones
but in the meantime you can at least have it for yourself and others who
are interested and who search on the OBS site.

Good luck.

Hi, josenuny

I see that this is your forst post: welcome to this forum.

First of all: thank you to have drawn my attention to this sophisticated piece of software. I did not even know that MeshLab exists or what it is.

Version 1.2.3a seems to be sort of a milestone or beta release in preparation for 1.2.3 due to be released september 2010. This may be part of your problem; I don’t know.

Can you please tell us what steps you did so far in your efforts to compile it or build a package and where you got stuck? On what OS? This will greatly increase your chances to get help.

Hi again, josenuny

Hi, I tried to compile MeshLab 1.2.3a but I was not successful.

Latest news from the battlefront: It compiles on my stone-age openSUSE-11.1 (i586). Follow the instructions to the letter. Make sure to provide the following external static libraries:

> ls -l meshlab/src/external/lib/linux-g++/
-rw-r--r-- 1 vodoo users 462000 20. Aug 20:00 lib3ds.a
-rw-r--r-- 1 vodoo users 169002 20. Aug 20:34 libbz2.a
-rw-r--r-- 1 vodoo users 187712 20. Aug 22:36 liblevmar.a
-rw-r--r-- 1 vodoo users 445792 20. Aug 23:05 libmuparser.a

Download the sources of these packages, compile and copy the static libs to the place shown above. All other dependencies can be resolved with packages from the standard repos. You need gfortran, f2c and quite a few other packages.

I would like MeshLab to be included in one of the repositories like Geo, Science or Education.

I have no plans to package it. It would be a major effort. Better you compile yourself.
