Menalto Gallery 3 Slideshow Not Working

Does anyone know why version 3 of Menalto Gallery slideshow doesn’t work in openSuse version 11.4 or Tumbleweed KDE ?

Tried FireFox, Opera, and Konqueror.

Works fine in Windows 7 VM in FireFox, Opera and Explorer.

explain what you mean by “doesn’t work”…i ask because i can see the
pix, i can move forward and backwards one pic at a time or to either
end…and i can switch over to the pix of Moscow and cycle through them…

what is broken there, here it seems to all work (i’m using KDE4.6.0 in
11.4_32, with firefox 7, and Opera 11.51, and Chromium 15.0.860.0
(Developer Build 0 Linux))

perhaps yours is a tumbleweed problem???

To me this looks like a known problem that is documented.
Though then again, you claim it works unter Windows 7 which does not fit
that explanation.

May I ask:
I would expect that you saw a slideshow working on a gallery hosted on a
windows7 system ? Or do you really mean that THIS slideshow from THIS
gallery works with any browser inside windows7 ?

Otherwise:
you have to check the permissions to access your pictures.
The CoolIris slideshow requests the full size versions via rss. Both has to
be granted. This fact has been documented in the gallery3 wiki recently.
Because I had exactly that problem

Have fun !

arkascha

I only see a black box with nav buttons at bottom. no images.

Perhaps a 64bit Flash issue?

I don’t have a 32 bit install to test against.

Did test in vanilla 11.4 and Tumbleweed but both 64 bit installs.

Anyone with 64 bit installs see the slideshow images?

Tested on Gallery hosted on the above link and also on my own RedHat 5 Apache 2 install. Don’t know the host on the above link.

When I go to that site (openSUSE 11.4, KDE 6.6.0, FF 7.0), there is an obscure tiny icon somewhere up-right. When I hover over it, it says “View slideshow”.
When I click it, a new viewing surface is shown within the window. It has start/stop, etc, buttons, but it remains black. Is that what you mean?
(You seem to think that many people here are doing “version 3 of Menalto Gallery slideshow” all the time and that any explanation is thus superfluous, quod non).
It seems to be a Flash application.

"The CoolIris slideshow requests the full size versions via rss. Both has to
be granted. "

What does this mean?

Yes you seem to have the same problem I do.

Menalto Gallery is the open source application installed on the host. Nothing is needed locally but Flash in the client.

Forgot to add that my openSUSE is 32-bit.

Right-click on the Flash surface mentions Cooliris slideshow 1.4.1 (37711). I guess that is the Flash program’s name.

Yes, I think so.

What’s expected is in the black window pop-up a large photo with a series of smaller photos tiled across the bottom and the large image rotates the series of smaller images.

Here is how it looks in windows

Here is a version 2 of Menalto Gallery with a properly working slideshow in my Suse KDE

Menalto Gallery is a popular, widely used open source photo gallery application, and has been around for years and I’ve never had a problem before with it working in openSuse.

Wonder why Henk’s 32 bit and all my 64 bit installs don’t work but yours does?

maybe i am running as a ‘pure’ 11.4 as i can…but, updated…with no
upgrades (of the DE, kernel, etc etc etc no installs from tumbleweed, or
factory or or or…only updates (flowing though the update repo)

full listing of software in sig…

oh well…there are lots of ‘updates’ i elected to not install (like, i
don’t use Samba so i have not allowed any updates to Samba…etc etc etc)…
