Hi,
I am running the Memtest option on a desktop with openSUSE 10.0 dvd. There are no errors as yet but currently the 11th test series (each series has 8 tests) is going on. The time elapsed or WallTime is almost 4 hours. Is it normal?
The desktop is an Intel P4 3GHz, 915G series motherboard with 2x512Mb ram. The memtest version is 3.2. Any suggestions?
did you set a finish parameter ? i.e. however many iterations of the test.if none are set it will go on

No, i did not set any finish parameter.
I was having problems installing any OS (openSUSE, Ubuntu, windows xp), so i started the Memtest at the boot screen. The test immediately started. I did not get any options. Should i terminate the test?
Maybe you can get some hint on the bottom or the top of the memtest screen to terminate the test operation, I don’t remember exactly cause I don’t use it for a long time

Worst case scenario you can just power off your box. memtest is just
testing RAM and never goes to your hard drive so you shouldn’t have any
problems there. Hit the power button once and see if it powers off. If
not hold it for seven full seconds and it should always poewr off. If
your box doesn’t shut down that way pull the plug.

Pressing the ESC key will stop the test.
