Memory testing utility

Hi all. I’v been talking to tech support at EVGA. I could have some sections of memory that might be bad. He told me about website called ‘memtest.org’ for mswin. Does linux have a complete memory testing utility, test all available memory? Thanks.

Yup. Install “memtest86+” through the software installer. It will create an entry in GRUB. Reboot, choose that entry and memtest starts. Let it run for at least 24 hours. If it shows any error, stop it, RAM modules should give zero errors. To find which module of more than one is faulty, test them one by one.

Alternative to Knurpht’s response, boot from openSUSE media and select
Memtest86+ from the boot menu. IIRC it’s on the liveCD media as well as
the installation DVD.

I installed ‘memtest86+’. It’s now in the grub menu. Thanks all.
