Memory Control Block

Have finally pinpointed my install problem with one hard drive; seems the MCB chain is corrupted; there are web answers for this problem for windows, but none of substance for linux. If anyone has experience or even just general knowledge of this subject, would appreciate any pointers.

If you want pointers, you will have to expand that paragraph a lot

Where did you tell us about your install problem, for instance? Then
continue explaining all that, so that we get an idea and know whether or
not we can contribute anything…

OK, tried several diagnostic disks and all came up with: kernel panic; MCB chain corrupted; did check of laptop and got that problems with the smbios and dmi; tried to install on same laptop [previously had just been using it to update – so no messing with boot] but with different [tested good and running good] harddrive and ended up with same non-functioning harddrive: would take all of new install fine, but upon reboot got just: welcome to grub grub booting – but it never boots no matter how long you wait.
Believe there is a way to use a floppy as part of a fix, but not sure of procedure.
Thanks for attention.
