Hi folks, I have just bought a new telly. I would like to access FreeviewHD, and also BBC iPlayer and preferably 4OD and ITV player whatever it is called. I don’t NEED to record etc, but of course that extra functionality would be nice…

I can already watch all these using openSUSE. Whether you use a Monitor or TV is your choice.
Probably because I don’t even own a TV and really don’t watch ‘Telly’ much. I probably lack the comprehension of what it is exactly that you desire.
Thanks, Caf… As you already know I am rather stupid so my question was probably not clearly phrased. I would like a ‘box’ which could take in BBC iplayer, 4OD, 5, ITV on demand you tube etc and send it to a TV, the box in the link above does this but only for BBC. Input wise I would like it to take the broaband feed from an ethernet cable. It would be ‘nice’ for it to be able to take in the signal from the TV aerial and get the freeview and freeview HD channels and control the whole shebang with one remote controller. Am I asking too much?

I doubt it. But it’s not a subject close to my heart and any TV I watch is online via BBC or with get_iplayer. The stuff I watch would probably bore you to tears.
Don’t things like Sky boxes do this? Or are you after all the free stuff?
I bet someone in China is making copies of something similar that would do the job. Just guessing. Only, watching Top Gear makes me think copies is something they are in to big time.
A computer with suitable TV Card and ethernet should feed what you are asking for though
