MD5 sum and corrupted ISO

I have wasted 2 discs even in slow burning speeds with no luck for a openSUSE 12.3 DVD. The md5 sum is correct but don’t know why every time I burn the ISO a reading error is found by the media checker… Could this be because of an ISO problem which the md5 verification can not find?

Could be bad media or a failing burner

I agree with gogalthorp. Try to burn on a friends system.

I use k3b to burn and check the box the does checking after burning, It will calculate the md5sum rereading immediatly after burning. The fastest way I know to check the DVD.

Didn’t know that it can check it after burning… Isn’t it the “verify saved data” option?? (mine is in Spanish).

Also try burning at 1x. Often this helps.

Mine is in Dutch  It says about “Verify written data” and t is below a simiularcxheckbox that says “Simulate”.
In the lower half of the window in something like “Settings”.

And try some different disks! If you use a new, good quality RW disk
then it won’t be ‘wasted’ whatever happens.

Buy an 8 GB USB stick and use Imagewriter (also available for Windows) to write the ISO to the USB stick. That works around the option that the burning device may be at it’s end of life.

This may be the best option I think but in the end I have burned it on another pc and different DVD brand. It worked just fine.

Thanks guys!
