Hello all,
Today I wanted to install opensuse 12.1 on a computer of mine and each time I download the ISO I get the same checksum but it does not match the one listed on the website. When I attempt to install after burning to dvd I get an installation error and a message state an incorrect MD5 sum. Any ideas on how I can get around this? This is the 64 bit version
I downloaded the ISO through the direct link and again through bittorrent. When checked both files are identical giving:
AA30B115095710E96831EAB0E344B935
but the website shows the correct md5 as:
4cfe8229111ef723ae7aa541fd2c87b7
Ok, prefer doing the torrent download. When finished, use the built in file checker for the torrent to verify if it is ok. You can also verify further with help from here: SDB:Download help - openSUSE
When you burn the iso what program are you using? I prefer infrarecorder. Burn at the slowest possible speed to avoid errors. When you boot up the opensuse cd using the “check for errors” option at the launch screen.
I used the file checker and it shows as being correct. Perhaps the MD5 software I am using has bug because I tried other software and now the same files are matching. :\ Thanks for the suggestion and I’ll try to do a slow burn this time.

What filesystem type is the iso stored on?

Try aria2c and the metalink.

After trying a slow burn installation went smoothly. Thank you all for your help.
Lessons learned: Use better MD5 software / May have had a dud dvd.

I have a vague recollection of having seen faulty md5 code in Windows, years ago… :-?
